Wanted: new friends. Found. Jana und Dino! The bright and cheerful heroes in this new language course present German for children of pre-school and primary school age in a new and unique way.

Using stories for teaching

Throughout both books Dino and his friend Jana explore the world seen though children's eyes. Lots of delightful stories revolving around the two likeable characters have a great emotional appeal and make learning enjoyable.

Holistic and right for children

Book 1 concentrates wholly on listening and speaking skills. The learning process in the coursebook is imitative, holistic and task-based. The workbook reinforces the teaching objectives using picture puzzles, handicraft tasks and more. In book 2 reading and writing skills are added. Initial exercises practising syllable pronunciation and the recognition of individual letters of the alphabet complement listening and speaking practice and gradually introduce sounds and letters unique to German. Children already used to Roman script practise phonetics as a priority in combination with the script. For children accustomed to other forms of writing additional practice material is planned for our courseware support service.

Animated enough to join in?

The amusing stories involving Jana and Dino have been lovingly illustrated and then animated in short film sequences. Suitable and varied tasks encourage children to play, speak, move and sing. Rhythmic learning in the form of songs, rhymes and repetition exercises always takes priority.
