The course that makes a connection between business language and everyday language

Prerequisities: Adults and teenagers over 16 in worldwide elementary-level courses (A1 to B1).

Target group: All students of German for business purposes, such as foreign employees in German companies abroad and foreign employees in companies within Germany who need German skills for everyday life and for communicating at work.

Alltag, Beruf & Co. is the new work-oriented language course by the author team of Becker and Braunert: it covers elementary level content (A1, A2, B1) in six volumes and leads to the exams Start Deutsch 1 and 2 as well as to the Zertifikat Deutsch.

Alltag, Beruf und Co. provides material for approx. 50 classroom units in each volume and is equally suitable for use in general language courses with a work-related focus as well as for company-sponsored courses. The course introduces general language tools which are needed in day-to-day as well as work-related situations. Therefore it is suitable for participants of all professional backgrounds.

Design and individual elements:
Alltag, Beruf & Co. teaches both: everyday language as well as professional language. 

The course and workbook contains 10 lessons with 10 pages each plus a CD with pronunciation exercises and interactive activities.

Each lesson consists of:

- a double page titled „Im Alltag“ on the individual topic in a general-language context;

- a double page titled „Im Beruf“ on the individual topic in a professional context;

- a magazine page with an entertaining collage covering the lesson topic;

- a one-page overview titled „Grammatik und Redemittel“ on grammar and common expressions;

- four workbook pages with exercises on vocabulary and common expressions, and on grammar and pronunciation.

The included CD contains pronunciation exercises for the workbook section as well as additional interactive exercises for the coursework section which students can use for independent study.

The teacher’s handbook contains lesson plans for the individual lessons as well as transcripts for the audio texts and all keys.

Each volume comes with a vocabulary study book for the lesson’s vocabulary. It offers an organized table with the word, a space for its translation, a sample sentence for the word, as well a vocabulary exercise.
